History

History of our Movement: In 1982, John Wimber, who had been a pastor and church consultant, was asked to serve as the leader of a newly formed association of about nine churches (all in Southern California) that called themselves Vineyard. As the leader of this new movement, known as The Vineyard: A Community of Churches, John pastored the pastors and trained and encouraged the planting of churches internationally. The Vineyard Movement has over 600 churches in the United States, and worldwide there have been over 1,800 Vineyard churches planted. Some of the countries include Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Russia, Turkey, throughout the European continent, Africa, Southeast Asia, and in Australia. God has shown us, however, that His desire is not just to build the Vineyard, but that we should promote His kingdom, and encourage, build, and love the whole church.

History of Harmony Vineyard: The Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Ashland was officially born in June, 2007, with an outreach at the Ashland Strawberry Faire and an organizational meeting at Ashland Coffee & Tea. Most of the people present at that first meeting became part of a home group that regularly met at Jeff and Sally’s house for the next ten months. On May 4th of 2008 the church had its first official service in its newly leased space on Washington Hwy. After several years there, the church moved to its second location in Kings Charter in August, 2012. During 2014 the church officially changed its name to Harmony Vineyard Church, to reflect both its commitment to multiethnic ministry and its move to a location outside of the Ashland city limits. In October of 2021 we moved into our current location at 10487 Lakeridge Parkway, a move that gave us additional space to begin the Lion & Lamb Academy.

Vision & Mission

“Bringing the Kingdom… Here. Now. For all.”

As you read the gospels, you undoubtedly notice that Jesus spoke often about the Kingdom. He announced the kingdom. He taught about the kingdom. He demonstrated the kingdom. Furthermore…

  • When Jesus showed up, the kingdom wasn’t some far-away place, it was here.

  • When Jesus showed up, the kingdom wasn’t some future event, it was here, now.

  • When Jesus showed up, the kingdom wasn’t for a select few, it was here, now, for all.

As a church and as individuals, we are tasked with being Jesus to the world. That means “Bringing the Kingdom… Here. Now. For all.” should be every believer’s mission and responsibility, and for that reason we have chosen to adopt this phrase as our combined vision and mission statement.

Values

The Harmony Vineyard Way is the way we have chosen to be the church. It consists of six values that guide us as we walk out our journey of faith together:

  • Identity: We are a family who desires God’s will for our lives. We choose to live out of our true identity as a beloved son or daughter of God and seek to replace our will with His, knowing that the Father always gives good gifts to His children.

  • Mission: Our mission is to make disciples. We believe that the best way to do so is by practicing a “naturally supernatural” lifestyle, obeying the words of Jesus and doing the works of Jesus. We actively look for ways to reach out to our neighbors and our community.

  • Growth: We understand that our personal growth comes through regular study of God’s word and through relationships with other believers. We embrace small groups as our primary means of growing in grace and connecting with each other.

  • Diversity: We are committed to ethnic diversity. We believe all churches, and specifically our church family, should consist of people from every nation, tribe, and people – God’s picture of the church in the Book of Revelation.

  • Unity: Together, as a family, we will laugh, cry, struggle, succeed, disagree, and reconcile –– and in all things give glory to God, who unites us in our faith.

  • Truth: “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” – Colossians 3:14
